1 in 7 Middle Tennesseans are at Risk of Going Hungry
We live in a beautiful part of the country. There are plenty of wealthy neighborhoods, a vibrant and growing downtown, and some of the best schools in the US. So when I heard that 1 in 7 Middle Tennesseans are at risk of going hungry, I had a hard time wrapping my mind around it. The question immediately came up...
What Can We Do About It?
Regardless of why or how or what circumstance brought a person or family into a situation where they are fighting just to provide basic needs like food, the fact is there are hungry people and we can help them.
We got to see first hand just how many people are affected by hunger. We brought a team of people to Spring Hill, TN to help The Well Outreach in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank serve the community through a mobile food pantry.
Over 100 Families Received Food
Mobile pantries are helping many hungry people in incredible ways. Families were able to fill an entire grocery cart full of food items like fruits, vegetables, snacks, drinks, herbs, crackers, fresh foods and canned foods. Volunteers walk through the line of food items and help them fill their carts and then help them load everything into their vehicle. The mobile food pantry had so much food that people were able to go through the line twice after everyone had received their first cartful.
It's incredible seeing people join together to serve those in need. We're all capable of doing so much.
