What we do

Local Initiative's heart is community. We're building a tribe of like-minded servants who want to take care of their neighbors in need. We focus on a specific issue affecting the community each month and put your donations to use to meet practical needs. We come along side existing groups and organizations so that together we can make the biggest impact.

Why Local?

We believe that changing the world begins in our own backyards. From there we can impact our city, state, nation and world. There is a lot that we can do. When there are needs to be met in our own community, everybody can do something. We're here to join together to make a difference.

OUR STORY

In 2015, after nine years of drumming with Sidewalk Prophets, Justin Nace decided it was time for a change. Traveling all over the country opened Justin's eyes to just how much need there is in every community. Seeing these needs inspired him to ask some important questions. "What can I do to help these people?" "What if, as a local community, we can join together to provide for and serve those in need?" And change was set in motion.

As Justin talked more about these thoughts with his friends and community he began to find a common theme. People want to help but they don't know where to start. Thus began Local Initiative and the dream of making the world a better place by serving and meeting the needs of the less fortunate in our local community.

We believe that as we care for our neighbors with respect and love, we’ll begin to see a shift in our communities. A shift from loose connections to deeper conversations, conversations to lifelong friendships. A shift creating sustainable change for the betterment of our cities.

We can make a change. We can make a difference.
Let's do something. And let's do it together.
